Sheila De Lany, 60, is a California native, an artist by training, a jeweler by profession, and an activist by delight.
Sheila served on the Santa Cruz County Women's Commission from 1989-1998 and currently co-chairs the Commission's Task Force on CEDAW. She was instrumental in the County's passage of a CEDAW Resolution in 1995 and represented the County to the United Nations NGO Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995. As part of Beyond Beijing and the California Women's Agenda she worked on implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action. Sheila also chairs the Valley Women's Club Women's Issues Committee.
Sheila lives in the mountains of Central California, between the Pacific Ocean and Silicon Valley. She and her husband own the "Blind Pilot Jewelers", established in 1968, in the small mountain town of Boulder Creek, where they design and create original and custom-made jewelry in precious metals and stones.
She has been married to her life partner Gerald since 1962 and has one adult child, Gerard.
