SPOUSES OF INDEPENDENT WORKERS IN FRANCE (16,500 members)
"Conjoints de Travailleurs Independants de France"updated: august 2005 français Created in 1975 in Avignon, during the First Year of the Woman, by some women who became aware of their role as wives of craftmen. This inter professional federation totals more than 16,500 members and a following of close to 900,000 others in 33 French departments. It deals with all growing private businesses. The role of spouse is becoming more and more important thus necessitating training.
OBJECTIVES
To unite associations of "Spouses of Independent Workers" in commerce and craft industries in order to:
- inform spouses of their legitimate, professional and social rights tied to their function in business,
- pass on the association's demands to their corresponding organizations and administrations
- elect federal and departmental managers in the familial/social and legal/ professional domains to head the different internal organizations of the federation,
- help in the creation of departmental associations and support them with meetings, colloquia, and congresses.
ACTION
-awareness and mobilization on its part allowed for the success of the Law of 10 juillet 1982,
-awareness and informational meetings,
-improvement propositions,
-numerous motions presented to authorities of which some were put into effect by the Madelin Law,
-ambitious education program, with notaries, legal advisors; a liaison between banks and specific organizations
ORGANIZATION
- Six Executive Committees
- Four Administrative Councils
- One Annual General Assembly (in Paris)
PHILOSOPHY
- A recognition of spouses in "private business",
- An improvement of their future, that of their family and their business,
- A group of competent professionals dedicated to the development of this association and its members.
