OBJECTIVE

Created in 1981, the main objective of the Association of Women Journalists (AFJ) is to defend and promote a woman*s place in the press and society.

ACTIONS

The AFJ gives three awards:

The AFJ Documentary Award: created in 1985 as part of the International Festival of Women*s Films in Creteil, France, it rewards films that combine the director*s discerning eye with high quality cinematography.

The AFJ Press Award: created in 1990, it rewards 10,000F to the author of an article that best describes the  role or struggle of women in contemporary society.

The Severine Award: created in 1994 at the Salon au Livre, this award goe to a book, essay, or document whose topic is women or the relationship between men and women.

 

ORGANIZATION

  • Monthly meetings often include a discussion and/or a dringk (pot amical)
  • Members organize ¨get-acquainted" dinners which include guest speakers (12-20 times a year).
  • Monthly newsletter informing members of AFJ activities and member news (meetings, colloqui, publications, etc.)
  • Admission requirements: you must be a journalist and sponsored by a current member.
