The Marguerite DURAND Library contains a collection of materials on feminism and the Frenchwoman's struggle for equality. It is located in Paris and was created in 1897. It has been modernized recently.

This division of interest reflects a gender system that assigns public roles to men and private or domestic roles to women, and against which Marguerite DURAND (1864-1936) struggled during most of her life. Testimony to that struggle forms the core of the collection at the Durand where the papers of this influential French feminist are maintained.

The Marguerite DURAND library is funded and governed by the Paris municipal library system. It always welcomes the researcher and the curious alike.

The Librarian willanswer all your letters within a month.
Her team will be happy to help you.
