WOMEN TOO

"Elles aussi"

updated: august 2005

Pluralist and independent, this is a federation of six women*s associations whose focus is women*s equality in elected positions.

OBJECTIVE: To help women attain equality in elected offices.

Why equality?  Because management of public affairs needs the combined energy of men AND women.

Some statistics: The Senate: 3.4% of its members are women, the National Assembly: 6%, Regional Councils: 12.3%, General Councils: 4.8%, Town Councils: 17.1% of which 5.4% are women mayors.

"Elles aussi" wants to breathe life into women*s candidacies and encourage their growth.

1995: City elections.  Since November of 1993, Elles aussi has organized day-long forums throughout France to encourage women*s participation in electorial campaigns by training them and supporting them in their cause.
