The Social situation and the goals
of our project
Brief look on the situation of
woman in Albania
Albanian woman live in very difficult conditions and poverty, especially in rural areas. Women of 15-49 years old are 67% of the population. It is the poorest, most fragile and most discriminated part of the population.
UNEMPLOYMENT
It is a spread phenomenon that has plagued women in Albania, while the social assistance offered to them is very smal. Emigration has been widely increased, because of economical conditions and mistrust on country future. The effect of emigration has created big social problems that affect mostly women and children. The mother remains the only one parent for the child and in most of the cases the emigrants ceased contact with the families sending no more money. This is the majority of the cases. Another development in the nature of the emigration come up with the phenomenon of prostitution of children or young women.
SALARIES
Average payment in the public sector varies from 69 up to 82 dollars in a month, while in rural areas it is only around 50 dollars. In the mountain village areas, considering the difficult conditions of living and the infrastructure, the risk of hunger is higher. It is higher iamong females than iamong males of the same age that live in same social-economical conditions.
